Today, we’re pleased to announce some upcoming Golden Demon competitions to give you time to prepare your entries for the most prestigious Warhammer painting contest in the world. Painters from around the world will gather to win a Golden Demon for themselves across competitions for Warhammer 40,000, the Horus Heresy, Warhammer Age of Sigmar and the Golden Demon Classic, with the very best winning the coveted Slayer Sword.
The months for these are:
Warhammer 40,000 Golden Demon: November 2017
Horus Heresy Golden Demon: February 2018
Warhammer Age of Sigmar Golden Demon: March 2018
Golden Demon Classic: May 2018
With the Warhammer 40,000 Golden Demon coming soon, now is the time to crack on with your entries – there’s still plenty of time to start planning your masterpiece.
All the categories from last year will be returning – to remind you, these are:
Warhammer 40,000 Single Miniature
Any single, human-sized Warhammer 40,000 miniature mounted on an appropriately sized base. This category includes model like Terminators, the Ork Warboss, Tech-Priest Dominus and Roboute Guilliman etc. Characters mounted on bikes, jetbikes etc will also be accepted in this category.
Warhammer 40,000 Squad
This category is for Warhammer 40,000 squads or squadrons of three or more models. Judges will be looking for units that best exemplify the qualities and character of the army they represent. This category DOES include squadrons of bike-mounted models provided they are organised into a unit of three or more models. Larger vehicle models should be entered into the Vehicles category. All models should be mounted on an appropriately sized base.
Warhammer 40,000 Vehicle
This category is open to single Warhammer 40,000 Vehicles, Crisis Battlesuit Commanders, Dreadnoughts and walker models. Although most of these models tend not to be supplied with a base, it is quite acceptable for you to mount the vehicle on an appropriately sized base.
Warhammer 40,000 Large Model
This category is for any single large Warhammer 40,000 model mounted on an appropriately sized base. This covers models like the Avatar, Daemon Princes, large Tyranids, Greater Daemons, etc.
This category comprises two models interacting with each other. The judges will be looking for a dynamic pairing of two well-matched opponents in some kind of combat or other dramatic situation. The duel must be on an appropriately sized base.
This category is for dioramas, battle scenes, larger scale miniatures and all other models not covered by the categories above. This is also great for participants who wish to enter a second model that would otherwise be covered by a category they have already entered.
The Youngbloods painting competition is open to any competitors aged 15 years or under. Entries may consist of any model from the Warhammer 40,000 range.
You’ll find out the exact dates soon, and we’ll be announcing more categories, as well as our other upcoming contests. This is just the beginning, so keep your eyes peeled for announcements here on the Golden Demon website, from more upcoming competitions to news and pictures from the winners as they break.
